09/03/2010 - Aquaterra Clinches Contract for 'World First' RiserAquaterra has secured a major contract for a High Pressure Marine Riser System from Apache North Sea Limited. The high pressure, 10,000 psi rated, full-bore drilling riser system, complete with H4 compatible subsea connector is a 'world first' in terms of the connections and its operation. The Riser System will be used during Apache's 2011 drilling program as they develop the Bacchus field in the North Sea, drilling three subsea wells from the Rowan Gorilla VII jack-up rig.

09/02/2010 - Platform Explodes Offshore LouisianaAn explosion occurred this morning at a fixed platform operated by Mariner Energy in Vermilion Block 380, located 102 miles offshore the central Louisiana coast. Thirteen workers involved in the incident have been accounted for, including one who sustained injuries, according to media reports. All workers evacuated into the water following the explosion.

09/02/2010 - Lion Energy Amends Farmout Agreement with Africa OilLion Energy has come to an agreement with Africa Oil regarding certain amendments to the existing farmout agreement on all its east Africa assets. The amendment of the Lion farmout agreement with Africa Oil provides that Lion will reduce its interest in Block 10BB to 10% (originally 20%) and will not retain any interest in Block 10A (originally 25%).

09/02/2010 - Tullow Acquires 6 Licenses and Expands Footprint in East AfricaTullow announced the acquisition of a 50% operated interest in six adjacent licenses covering the East African Rift Basins of Kenya and Ethiopia, an area of 97,000 sq km. Tullow has signed agreements with Africa Oil Corp to gain a 50% interest in five licenses; Blocks 10BB, 10A, 12A and 13T in Kenya and the South Omo Block in Ethiopia. This acquisition expands on the farm-in to Block 10BA from Centric announced in August.
