  02/01/2012 - OGX Confirms Pre-salt Reservoir in Shallow Waters with Hydrocarbons in the Santos Basin

  OGX announced that it has confirmed the existence of pre-salt microbiolite reservoirs with hydrocarbons in the shallow waters of the Santos Basin. As previously announced, the wildcat well 1-OGX-63-SPS, located in the BM-S-57 block, identified hydrocarbon both in the Aptian and Albian sections.

  01/31/2012 - Ensco Semisub Chartered for Anadarko's GOM Drilling

  Ensco plc announced that one of its subsidiaries has entered into a contract for ENSCO 8506 (UDW semisub) with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. The initial contract term is for two and one-half years in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico at a day rate of $530,000, plus cost adjustments. The contract adds more than $480 million to revenue backlog.

  01/31/2012 - Treaty Energy to Extend Belize Drilling Program

  Treaty Energy Corporation announced plans to add two new oil fields to its Belize drilling program. Treaty Energy Corporation Chairman and Co-CEO, Andrew V. Reid, stated, "In our release of January 30th in which we announced our first oil strike in Belize we made reference to some 80 'anomalies' on the 200,000 'onshore' acres of land controlled by the Princess Concession.

  01/31/2012 - Petrobras Reports Accident at Santos Basin

  Petrobras, said an accident occurred Tuesday on the Petroserv-owned Dynamic Producer floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO). During a well test, a production column burst leaking approximately 160 barrels of oil according to preliminary estimates.

  01/31/2012 - Gujurat Govt Demands Essar Oil to Pay $1.235B Tax

  Essar Energy plc's subsidiary Essar Oil Limited announced that subsequent to the decision of the Honorable Supreme Court of India on January 17, 2012 relating to repayment of deferred sales tax, it has received a demand notice from the tax authorities of the State Government of Gujarat for repayment of the full amount of sales tax deferment benefit utilized by the company of approximately $1.235 billion (INR 63 billion), plus interest accrued.
