Mexican state oil company Pemex has restarted operations on oilfields in the Ébano-Pánuco-Cacalilao region, according to a statement from San Luis Potosí state government.
The EPC Project involves reactivating 420 existing wells over seven years.
Pemex aims to bring another 120 new wells online this year, according to the statement.
Local firm DS Servicios Petroleros is heading up the first phase of the project.
DS began oil exploration works on March 10, the statement said.
The project will increase oil production 6,000b/d in 2008, according to a Pemex statement.
By 2012, the project will provide an additional 12,000b/d as well as 4Mf3/d (113,000m3/d) associated natural gas, the statement said.
