The state of Bahia leads with 1,593 MW of registered solar projects. Piaui and Sao Paulo follow with 1,430 MW and 1,328 MW, respectively.

According to EPE, the solar contracts will be negotiated for 20 years of supply, while the hydropower plants will get 30 years. Once built, the plants should commence electricity supply on July 1, 2018 for photovoltaic (PV) sources and March 1, 2020 for the HPPs.
