Exploratory drilling at the Peroba Block in the pre-salt of Santos Basin occurs only nine months after the signing of the contract with the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP). The block was acquired in October last year, in a consortium operated by Petrobras, in the 3rd Round of Bids under the Sharing System of Production, promoted by the ANP.

Peroba is the first of the seven blocks to be shared in 2017 and 2018 to begin drilling. In addition to the areas acquired under the concession, Petrobras added to its portfolio, in 2017 and 2018, 21 new blocks in the Santos, Campos, Paraná and Potiguar basins. These new projects contribute to the strengthening of Petrobras' exploration portfolio, ensuring the sustainability of the company's future production.

Location

The Peroba block is located 300 km off the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, south of the Lula field and east of the Sapinhoá field. The location near these fields, which are among the most productive of the pre-salt, indicates the high potential of the area. The water depth is between 2,100 m and 2,600 m and the total area is 1,073.41 km².

Petrobras is the operator (40%), in partnership with BP Energy do Brasil Ltda. (40%) and with CNODC Brasil Petróleo e Gás Ltda. (20%), a subsidiary of CNPC. Pre-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) is the manager of the contract.
