A January to celebrate. For the first time, oil and natural gas production in Brazil exceeded 4 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe / d), totaling 4.041 million boe / d. The month recorded a production record for both oil - 3.168 million barrels per day (bbl / d) - and natural gas - 138.753 million cubic meters per day (m³ / d).
Oil production represented an increase of 1.99% compared to December 2019 and 20.43% compared to January last year. Natural gas was 0.71% higher than in the previous month and 22.58% higher than in the same month of 2019.
Pre-salt production was 2.682 million boe / d, representing 66.37% of all national production. In this region, 2.150 million bbl / d of oil and 84.572 million m³ / d of gas were produced.
The biggest producer in January was the Lula field, with 1.052 million bbl / d of oil and 44.096 million m³ / d of gas.
