In October 2018, Brazil's natural gas production was a record, surpassing July 2018. 117 million m³ of natural gas was produced per day, an increase of 3.7% compared to the previous month and 2, 1%, compared to the same month of 2017.

Oil production in the period was 2,614 million barrels of oil per day (bbl / d), an increase of 5.2% over the previous month and a reduction of 0.5% compared to October 2017 .

The main increase in production was in the FPSO City of Itaguaí Platform and some Campos Basin platforms, due to the returns of the stops made in the previous month.

Brazil's total oil and gas production was approximately 3.350 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe / d). October production data is available on the Monthly Bulletin of Petroleum and Natural Gas Production.

Pre-salt

Pre-salt production in October totaled 1.840 million boe / d, an increase of 3.2% over the previous month. 1.471 million barrels of oil per day and 58.8 million cubic meters of natural gas per day were produced through 88 wells. The participation of the pre-salt in the total national production in October was 54.9%. The pre-salt wells are those whose production is carried out in the geological horizon called pre-salt, in fields located in the area defined in section IV of caput of article 2 of Law 12,351 / 2010.

Use of natural gas

The use of natural gas in Brazil in October reached 97.4% of the total volume produced. 65.2 million cubic meters per day were made available to the market.

Gas flaring totaled 3 million cubic meters per day, a decrease of 3.1% compared to the previous month and 11.1% compared to the same month in 2017.

Producer fields

The Lula field, in the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas. It produced, on average, 899 thousand bbl / d of oil and 37.9 million m3 / d of natural gas. Maritime fields produced 95.9% of oil and 78.4% of natural gas. The production occurred in 7,399 wells, of which 716 were seaborne and 6,683 were terrestrial. The fields operated by Petrobras produced 92.7% of the oil and natural gas.

Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the largest number of producing wells: 1,136. Marlim Sul, in the Campos Basin, was the maritime field with the largest number of producing wells: 91.

The Petrobras Platform 66, producing in the Lula field through seven interconnected wells, produced 146,300 barrels per day and was the facility with the largest oil production. The Arara Azul plant, producing in the fields of Arara Azul, Araracanga, Carapanaúba, Cupiúba, Rio Urucu and Southwest Urucu, through 40 interconnected wells, produced 8 million m3 / d and was the installation with the largest production of natural gas.

Other information

In October 2018, 302 concession areas, an onerous assignment area and a sharing area, operated by 29 companies, were responsible for domestic production. Of these, 72 are maritime and 232 are terrestrial. Of the total of the producing areas, ten are related to contracts of areas containing marginal accumulations.

The average API grade was 27.2, with 38.8% of the production considered light oil (> = 31 ° API), 47.3% medium oil (> = 22 API and <31 API) and 14.0% oil heavy (<22 API).

The mature terrestrial basins (fields / long-term tests of the Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe and Alagoas basins) produced 110.8 thousand boe / d, of which 87.4 thousand bbl / d of oil and 3.7 million m3 / d of natural gas. Of this total, 105,100 barrels of oil equivalent per day were produced by Petrobras and 5.7 thousand boe / d for concessions not operated by Petrobras, with 375 boe / d in Alagoas, 3,547 boe / d in Bahia, 21 boe / d in Espírito Santo, 1,536 boe / d in Rio Grande do Norte and 209 boe / d in Sergipe.
