Collaborative Efforts to Enhance Well Operational Safety are Essential for the Oil and Gas Industry to Conduct Its Key Activities. For this reason, the Brazil and Macaé sections of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) are hosting the 3rd Well Operational Safety Workshop on August 20-21 in Macaé.
The third edition of this event, under the theme "Plan, Integrate, and Innovate. One Team, One Goal!", will once again bring together leading industry experts, from operators and suppliers of well-related goods and services to sectoral and regulatory entities, as well as academia, to delve deeper into various aspects of well operational safety. This year, the focus will be on human factors, risks and safety barriers, regulation and inspection, sustainability, and innovation.
"Well operational safety is a crucial factor for the key activities of the oil and gas industry, whose operations have a significant social, economic, and environmental impact. Promoting debate, reflection, and the exchange of experiences on all aspects that affect well operational safety, from human factors to the technologies being employed to minimize the potential risks of hydrocarbon exploration and production," highlights Jaime Naveiro, President of SPE Brazil Section (photo).
Cristina Ramos, South America Director at Seadrill, is the chair of the event, which features strong female participation among the speakers—about 40%. Petrobras' Executive Well Manager, Wllisses Afonso, is the honorary chair of the workshop, with technical counterparts including Petrobras' General Manager of Offshore Drilling, Patrick Perez, and PRIO's Operations Director, Francisco Francilmar.
