In September, the company scored a monthly record in its refining park
Petrobras AgencyIn September, Petrobras' refineries scored the best historical result in energy efficiency, reaching 101 points in the index that measures specific energy consumption. Year to date, the cumulative results reached 103.8 points.
The optimization of energy intensity in the refining park in the period represents a reduction of 25.4% in natural gas consumption, when compared to the consumption of 2020, before implementing the RefTOP program, which aims to boost the performance of operations. This data indicates a reduction in the emission of greenhouse gases equivalent to more than 75,000 urban buses circulating five days a week.
In September, the result of greenhouse gas emissions intensity in refining was 36.2 kgCO2eq/CWT, repeating the excellent level of results achieved this last August. According to the director of Industrial Processes and Products at Petrobras, William França, “the significant milestones were achieved through integrated work and a focus on optimizing processes carried out by the teams in the Operation, Optimization, Maintenance and Engineering areas of the refineries, anchored in the management processes and robust technology solutions.”
Commitment to sustainability and efficiency
The RefTOP program, launched in 2021, aims to boost the energy efficiency of operations, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase operational availability and expand pre-salt oil processing capacity.
The energy intensity and emissions results demonstrate Petrobras' ongoing commitment to the efficiency and sustainability of its operations, while maintaining the company's values on safety, the environment and health.
