A survey released by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) for the month of May informs that, in 2022, the Internal Energy Supply (OIE) is expected to grow less than the final consumption of energy in the economic sectors.
According to the Monthly Energy Bulletin, this will occur due to the reduction of energy losses in thermoelectric generation, resulting from the "recovery of hydraulic generation", after showing a decline of 8.5% in 2021.
Thus, the expectation is that, this year, renewable sources will increase their share in the electricity matrix.
The estimate projected by the MME is that the OIE will increase by 1.3% (with 305.1 million tons of oil equivalent) and 46.4% from renewable sources, compared to 2021.
According to the bulletin -- which, by monitoring variables (energy and non-energy), seeks to estimate the monthly and cumulative behavior of the country's total energy demand -- final energy consumption should reach 2.5% due to the expansion of hydraulic participation .
"For the Domestic Electricity Supply (OIEE), an increase of 3% in the Brazilian energy matrix is expected, with renewable energy sources responsible for more than 84% of electric generation", informed the MME, referring to the specific data for evaluating the exclusively electric supply.
With regard to the supply of hydraulic energy in the country, the increase is 8.9% in the year.
According to the survey, electricity consumption increased by 4.2% compared to May 2021.
"Commercial consumption also stands out, with an increase of 13%; residential consumption with 2.8%; and industrial consumption with 2.3%".

Rates
The bulletin also highlights that electricity tariffs show "significant" highs in the year, compared to 2021, reaching "above 20% for each of the residential, commercial and industrial sectors", despite having shown a decline in April.
The trend, however, is, according to the ministry, of "gradual low" for the next few months of 2022.
