Over four days, the world’s largest energy festival will host business and energy-security debates at Riocentro, while also offering networking spaces and cultural attractions

Rio de Janeiro is counting down the days to host the world’s largest energy festival. ROG.e 2026 officially begins next Monday (21) at Riocentro, in Barra da Tijuca. Organized by the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP), the event consolidates its transformation into a global platform that, for the first time, integrates knowledge, business, networking, innovation, technology, culture, and entertainment to connect the industry with society. ROG.e 2026 runs through September 24 and will bring together more than 400 national and international leaders to discuss the main challenges and opportunities on the global energy agenda. There will be more than 600 hours of content dedicated to the energy industry’s primary challenges and opportunities.
ROG.e 2026 begins at 9:45 AM with the attendance of the following executives and authorities: Roberto Ardenghy, President of IBP; Magda Chambriard, President of Petrobras; Nelson Narciso Filho, Chair of ROG.e and CEO of NNF Energy Consultancy; and Daniel Chapo, President of Mozambique.
A pioneering study conducted jointly by IBP and the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) estimates that ROG.e 2026 will inject approximately R$ 593 million into the economy of Rio de Janeiro and generate more than 10,000 jobs, taking into account the direct, indirect, and induced impacts of the event throughout the year across preparation, execution, and post-event phases. Visitor spending is projected to reach R$ 95 million, comprising R$ 63 million on accommodation, R$ 25 million on food and beverages, and R$ 7 million on transportation.
Over the course of four days, executives, authorities, experts, investors, academics, and young professionals will discuss strategic topics for Brazil and the world, including: energy security, energy transition, natural gas, offshore reserve replacement, downstream, regulatory competitiveness, artificial intelligence, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), supply chain, decommissioning, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).
The schedule features diverse formats, including Strategic Talks, Special Sessions, ROG.e Dialogues, and thematic forums providing in-depth discussions on specific industry segments. Confirmed attendees also include: Patrick Pouyanné, CEO of TotalEnergies; Maria João Carioca, CEO of Galp; Wael Sawan, CEO of Shell; Kristian Johansen, CEO of TGS; Roberto Monteiro, CEO of Prio; Oivind Tangen, CEO of SBM Offshore; and Phillipe Mathieu, Executive Vice-President International for Exploration and Production at Equinor, among other prominent leaders.
Sessions will address core topics for the sector’s development, such as production evolution in mature fields, natural gas market challenges, downstream modernization, the role of artificial intelligence across the energy chain, the competitiveness of Brazilian industry, financing the energy transition, and opportunities related to low-carbon technologies, such as CCUS, DACCS, and BECCS. In addition to the main congress, ROG.e will host 13 parallel events tailored to specialized audiences. Among the highlights is Bar do Simas: História, Música e Energia no Rio, led by writer and historian Luiz Antonio Simas, one of Brazil’s leading scholars of popular culture, at the Energia Literária arena—a new feature in this edition. Author Itamar Vieira Jr. has also confirmed his participation in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Forum.
The Independent Producers Forum will address themes such as energy security, independent operators, and regulatory modernization. The Supply Chain Forum will focus on supply chain challenges, including financing, competitiveness, decarbonization, and decommissioning. The Young Summit will bring together students and young professionals for discussions on the industry’s future, career paths, and professional development, while iUP Innovation Connections will showcase the sector’s latest breakthroughs to companies, fostering the development of innovative market solutions.
Furthermore, UnIBP, sponsored by OPITO, will launch the Embarque Estudantil initiative at ROG.e—an immersive, gamified experience designed for high school, technical, and undergraduate students. From September 21 to 23, participants will explore exhibition booths, technical lectures, quizzes, and missions, earning points on a leaderboard via the UnIBP application. The initiative aims to connect young talent with career opportunities in the energy sector, fostering learning and corporate networking. Top performers will be recognized on the Young Summit stage, and the top ten participants each day will receive an invitation for a technical site visit to an energy industry company. ROG.e 2026 will also debut the Energy Run, the energy industry’s first official running race. With registrations completely sold out, the race will take place on September 20 at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, on the eve of the festival opening. Open to both amateur and experienced runners, the initiative combines sports, wellness, and networking among industry professionals and the general public, with over 1,000 participants expected.
The 2026 edition introduces an unprecedented expansion of experiential programming for attendees. Alongside dedicated networking lounges, brand activations, a Ferris wheel, and a literary arena, the event will host ROG.e Fest, bringing artists such as Xande de Pilares, Toni Garrido, Elba Ramalho, and Monobloco to the stage, alongside performances by Orquestra Petrobras, Orquestra Maré do Amanhã, and Orquestra Chiquinha Gonzaga. Concerts will take place daily from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, expanding the attendee experience beyond the technical sessions.
