The company carried out the transportation of bunker fuel (fuel for vessels) and aims to target both domestic and international markets with its new logistical mode.
T&B Petroleum/Press Office TranspetroTranspetro has initiated a strategic logistical operation for the transportation of oil and derivatives in the Northern region through the Barge to Ship transshipment, which took place on the 27th in the municipality of Itacoatiara (AM), located 270 kilometers from Manaus. The Barge to Ship operation allows for cost reduction, increased agility, and efficiency in transportation, loading, and storage of products. It eliminates the need for berthing docks and provides floating storage capacity.
With this initiative, Transpetro is also prepared to serve clients in Latin America with operations of this nature, adding this expertise to its portfolio of logistical services. The company operates 49 land and water terminals and approximately 8,500 kilometers of pipelines throughout Brazil.
In the operation in Itacoatiara, approximately 21,000 m3 of VLSFO (very low sulfur fuel oils), which are fuels used in vessels, were transferred to an anchored ship. These fuels were previously stored and being transported in eight barges.
"The technical expertise of Transpetro's teams enabled simultaneous operations of two barges to increase efficiency in loading," said Adriano Moreira, the manager of Pipelines and Terminals in Amazonas.
"The implementation of this new logistical solution demonstrates the company's readiness to meet the increasing demands for the transportation of oil and derivatives in the Northern region," added Thales Carneiro, the sector manager of Customer Relations for Derivatives and Biofuels.
