Spanish utility company Iberdrola has announced that the 150MW Calangos wind complex in Rio Grande do Norte state in Brazil is now fully online.
The complex consists of five wind farms of 30MW each and can generate enough power to supply approximately 450,000 people per year.
It is also estimated that the complex will offset some 510,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
The turbines for the complex were supplied by Spanish company Gamesa, with the project being jointly funded by the Brazilian Development Bank and the national Banco do Brasil bank.
