The expansion, as reported previously by Recharge, will happen through the introduction of a third work shift at the factory.

Located in the Camaçari, in the norteastern state of Bahia, Alstom's hubs and nacelles assembly facility was inaugurated in 2011, with an initial capacity of 300MW.

In 2012, this was boosted to 600MW.

“This expansion proves Alstom’s commitment to build a wind cluster in Bahia State and to help the Brazilian market to have a sustainable and green energy matrix”, says Pierre-François Chenevier, Vice President of Wind business in Alstom Latin America.

Alstom produces its ECO 100 platform in Brazil. The company claims to have a 2.5GW pipeline in the country.

Alstom and other turbine makers have been announcing investments in Brazil to comply with local content requirements.
