The ANP published today (9/25) order that changes the mandatory individual targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions for fuel distributors under the national biofuel policy, the RenovaBio program. The targets, for the year 2020, are applicable to all distributors that traded fossil fuels in the year 2019.
On 9/10, the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) published Resolution 8/2020, reducing the mandatory annual global target for 2020, from 28.7 million CBIOs (decarbonization credits) to 14.53 million CBIOS, due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. For this reason, it was necessary for the ANP to also recalculate the individual targets of the distributors, which had originally been published in ANP Dispatch No. 263, of March 19, 2020.
According to the legislation, RenovaBio's annual global decarbonization goals are defined by the CNPE and the individual ones (that is, those that must be reached by each fossil fuel distributor), by the ANP.
