Brazil started at zero o'clock on Saturday this weekend to export energy to Argentina through the company Tradener, based in Curitiba. The national trader received authorization from the Ministry of Mines and Energy on July 9 with ordinance 272/2020. This entire operation is being generated by the thermal plants Norte Fluminense and Engie. The contract is direct with Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico S.A. (Cammesa) represented in Brazil by Tradener.

All exports to Argentina are being carried out through the national converter plants Garabi I and II with up to 2,200 MW. “This is equivalent to one and a half times the power of a machine from Binacional Itaipu. It is a complex, large-scale operation that shows the efforts of Tradener and thermal generators bringing more foreign exchange to Brazil, ”said Walfrido Avila, President of Tradener. He also comments that the operation was made possible with the participation of Banco Itaú and Junto Seguradora (from the Paraná Banco group), which guaranteed the operation with full support from the CCEE-Electric Energy Trading Chamber and the ONS-National System Operator , who had full participation in the process, guiding and coordinating all operations.

Tradener has a valid authorization for the export of interruptible electric energy to Argentina and until December 31, 2022 and exports cannot increase costs in the Brazilian electric sector and must be subject to inspection by the National Electric Energy Agency.
