Bahia Oil & Gas Energy 2024 began with impactful speeches and the presence of renowned authorities and experts from the sector. The event, solidifying itself as the largest in the oil and gas sector in the North and Northeast, featured distinguished personalities from the industry, reaffirming the sector's importance to the region.
Day 1 - Opening Ceremony
The hosts and journalists, Patrícia Abreu and Pablo Vasconcelos, kicked off the event by welcoming participants, highlighting Bahia's hospitality and the significance of the oil and gas sector for the region.
Nicolás Honorato, director of Austal Energy Consulting and organizer of Bahia Oil & Gas Energy, was the first to speak, emphasizing the importance of networking and partnerships: "It's a pleasure, pride, and honor to offer you all the chance to meet and do business. I thank the sponsors, who believed and continue to believe in this event. These are companies that are honoring the rich history of oil and gas in Bahia. And gratitude to my team, who made all this possible."
During the ceremony, tributes were paid to Professor Ary Silveira and Professor Paulo Paim, recognizing their significant contributions to the sector, and the signing of the Transformar program agreement, developed by Transpetro, to improve employability conditions for residents around its operations, with the presence of Transpetro's president, Sérgio Bacci, and the mayor of Madre de Deus, Dailton Raimundo de Jesus Filho.
Furthermore, an agreement was signed for the Transformar program between Transpetro and the Madre de Deus City Hall, aiming to improve employability conditions in the region. And the delivery of the decarbonization certificate for the event by Essencis CEO, Caio Ávila.
Joelson Mendes, exploration director at Petrobras, reiterated the company's commitment to the region: "Petrobras made a strategic decision to be regionalized, and we made the decision to remain with production here in Bahia and in Amazonas. We have investments, over the next five years, forecasted of almost two billion dollars, more than one billion dollars here in Bahia."

TAG Plenary - PetroNor Conference
The panel "Future of Refining and Petrochemicals in Brazil" was moderated by Adary Oliveira (CPG/IPB) and brought together industry experts to discuss market prospects and challenges. The conference provided a platform for the exchange of ideas and strategies, strengthening the sustainable development of the refining and petrochemical industry in Brazil.
Ciro Marino, former president of ABIQUIM, addressed the future of downstream in Brazil, emphasizing innovation and sustainability. Celso Ferreira, VP of Operations at Acelen, presented the company's vision to expand its operations and invest in technology. Flávio Godinho, from Transpetro, highlighted the critical role of maritime terminals in the oil and gas logistics chain. Matheus Soares Matos, from Refina Brasil, discussed the future of small independent refineries, emphasizing the need for incentive policies and investments.
Eneva Plenary - GasNor Conference
The panel of this conference explored the potential of natural gas in the North and Northeast of Brazil. The session was moderated by Antonio Rivas (CPG/IPB) and featured key figures from the sector, who highlighted the strategic importance of natural gas for the region, promoting the debate on opportunities and challenges for its sustainable development.
Symone Araújo, director of ANP, discussed public incentives for natural gas, highlighting policies and programs to foster the sector. Brian Kregten, commercial manager of Eneva, presented the Sergipe Hub and the gas table, highlighting the company's initiatives to expand infrastructure and the gas market in the region. Luciano Chagas, consulting geologist, addressed the exploratory potential of gas in mature basins of the North and Northeast, highlighting opportunities for new discoveries. Paulo Vinícius Augusto, a PhD student at UFBA, discussed the potential of the Camamu Basin, pointing out growth and investment prospects.
Acelen ESG Arena
The panel "Oil & Gas in the Blue Economy" was moderated by Augusto Cruz (CEO at AC Consultoria), bringing together experts to discuss the integration of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices in the oil and gas sector, focusing on the blue economy.
Bernardo Rezende, decarbonization coordinator at Acelen, opened the discussion addressing traceability and transparency as tools for value generation in the sector. Caio Ávila, director at Essencis, shared insights into the company's sustainability strategies. Mônica Azpiazu and Lucas Gonçalvez from Tenaris discussed the implementation of ESG practices in the company, emphasizing its initiatives to promote environmental and social responsibility. Mauro Destri, CEO at Destri Energy, explored opportunities associated with the decommissioning of offshore assets, highlighting the importance of sustainable practices in this process.
Aleixo Belov, president of the Belov Foundation and who has sailed around the world five times, brightened the panel by sharing his vast experience as an explorer. Belov also addressed the serious issue of plastic impact on oceans, recalling his trip to the Arctic: "Near the North Pole, in a region where no one lives, when I was there, it was full of plastic. I found plastic everywhere," he said. In a humorous manner, he added: "Plastic is wonderful, the problem is humans."
Innovation Origin Arena
Experts present at the Innovation Origin Arena on Wednesday (22) emphasized the importance of continuous innovation and digital transformation for the competitiveness and sustainability of the downstream and petrochemical sector.
Moderated by Antonio Batista (CEO at Vita Digital), João Marcelo from SENAI Cimatec presented a fascinating overview of Quantum Computing and its potential applications in the industry. Manuel Rohe, R&D manager at Priner, discussed advances in robotic systems for industrial surface treatment painting, highlighting improvements in efficiency and safety.
The discussion also included Arlan Andrade, manager at Perbras, who addressed the integration of new technologies in field operations. Magno Bernardo, Gas Technology Advisor at Bahiagás, who talked about technological innovations in natural gas distribution. Danilo Cruz, Automation Manager at Acelen, discussed automation strategies to optimize processes in the petrochemical sector. Patrícia Lima from Larco
Petróleo shared insights on digital transformation in the company. Márcia José da Costa, executive IT manager at Transpetro, highlighted the challenges and opportunities of digitization in oil and gas transportation and logistics.

Meanwhile, in the Technical Section by Transpetro, best industrial practices were shared, promoting operational excellence and technological advancement. At the Scientific Congress by IPB, academics presented articles of high relevance to the oil and gas sector, enriching the debate on fundamental issues. And the Supply Meeting by Transpetro provided a platform for strategic and collaborative negotiations between companies.
