The implementation of new biofuel mandates takes effect in August and will be the central theme of the world’s largest bioenergy fair, held August 12–15 in Sertãozinho, São Paulo.
T&B Petroleum/Press Office Fenasucro & AgrocanaStarting August 1st, Brazil will take another decisive step toward decarbonizing its energy matrix. The National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) has approved an increase in the mandatory ethanol blend in gasoline from 27% to 30% (E30), and the biodiesel blend in diesel from 14% to 15% (B15). This measure not only reduces dependence on fossil fuels and strengthens domestic production, but also positions Brazil as a global leader in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
This strategic shift will be a major focus at Fenasucro & Agrocana, the world’s largest trade fair exclusively dedicated to bioenergy, taking place August 12–15 in Sertãozinho, São Paulo. The event will bring together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss the future of renewable energy, new bioeconomy trends, and the impacts of the new public policy.
Positive Impact
According to Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), the implementation of E30 is expected to attract over R$ 10 billion in investments and create approximately 50,000 jobs. Meanwhile, B15 could generate R$ 5 billion in new soybean crushing plants and facilities, creating over 4,000 direct jobs.
The new blending levels increase the use of domestically produced renewable fuels, reduce dependence on imports, and could lead to a drop of up to R$ 0.20 in the price per liter of gasoline. As a result, Brazil is expected to regain gasoline self-sufficiency for the first time in 15 years, with an exportable surplus estimated at 700 million liters per year — benefiting the economy, agribusiness, family farming, and the environment.
For Paulo Montabone, director of Fenasucro & Agrocana, this moment is both symbolic and strategic, highlighting not only the importance of biofuels but also the role of the event as a stage for the sector's major transformations.
“E30 and B15 arrive in August, which is precisely the month of Fenasucro & Agrocana — the month of bioenergy. This reinforces the fair’s historical alignment with key milestones in the sector, as was the case with Proálcool and bioelectricity,” he states. “With the Fuel of the Future program, we reaffirm our role in connecting industry, innovation, and public policy around energy transition and low-carbon mobility. Fenasucro & Agrocana is where the industry’s biggest waves are discussed, anticipated, and turned into real opportunities,” Montabone adds.
Decarbonization
Federal deputy Arnaldo Jardim, rapporteur of the Fuel of the Future Law sanctioned in November 2024, argues that the new blend levels represent the most cost-effective way to decarbonize the transport matrix.
“With this measure, we are moving toward self-sufficiency, reducing emissions, and attracting investment. We are unlocking a virtuous cycle that adds value to our agricultural production and the broader economy. Brazil is on the right path to lead the global energy transition,” says Jardim.
Fenasucro & Agrocana 2025 will also host the debut of FenaBio, a dedicated space focused on innovation, technical content, and business generation in bioenergy — including biomethane, low-carbon hydrogen, and SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel). With this expanded scope, the event further establishes itself as an international reference for clean energy and sustainable solutions for the future.
