The Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Rio de Janeiro, in partnership with ABEEólica (the Brazilian Wind Energy Association), held today, May 6th, in Rio de Janeiro, the seminar "Strategic Partnerships for Offshore Wind Energy", one of the events in its portfolio of initiatives leading up to COP30. The activity brought together Brazilian authorities, civil society representatives, and companies from both countries to discuss regulatory challenges and opportunities for cooperation in the development of offshore wind energy in Brazil.
Organized into three thematic panels, the seminar addressed the necessary regulatory framework to boost the sector, the synergies between the Brazilian and Dutch markets, and the pathways to attracting sustainable investments. The goal was to promote the exchange of experiences and strengthen strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors of both countries.
The initiative focused primarily on public and private stakeholders from Brazil and the Netherlands, with special attention to companies interested in renewable energy, port infrastructure, the wind energy supply chain, and green hydrogen.
The event is part of the Netherlands’ commitment to global climate action. The country has ambitious decarbonization targets and operates in an integrated manner in the energy transition, with offshore wind energy as a key pillar. The Dutch experience shows that it is possible to build a robust market based on clear regulation, proper incentives, and investment in innovation.
Brazil and the Netherlands have strong potential for collaboration in areas such as offshore wind and green hydrogen, combining strategic advantages in infrastructure, technological expertise, and commercial complementarity. The seminar was an opportunity to deepen this dialogue and align agendas towards a just and sustainable energy transition.
