The Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce will have a permanent office in Xiamen, in China’s Fujian province, to ensure the promotion of Brazilian business in that city, said the president of the institution on Wednesday.

Fabio Hu, who presented a proposal to the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Alberto Alves, to carry out joint tourism promotion actions between the two countries, said that the office will be inaugurated during the BRICS meeting, from 3 to 5 September.

“We need to adjust tourism in Brazil to receive travellers from China with packages that meet the expectations of this differentiated market,” said the executive secretary, quoted by the Brazilian press.

Alves recalled that in 2016 more than 130 million Chinese travelled the world, with just over 50,000 choosing Brazil as a destination.

Brazil currently has more than 300 Brazilian tourism agencies accredited to receive Chinese tourists, according to information released by the Ministry of Tourism.

The Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce has offices in the main cities of Brazil and China to assist in the travel of its associates, in development of research, operational support for contacts and business relations.
