The Embassy of Brazil in China will implement the first stage of electronic visa – Visit Visas (VIVIS). This new procedure started on January 19th, 2026. 

It is important to mention that even though it will be an electronic visa, at this initial stage, Visit Visas (VIVIS) for Business purposes will continue to be applied for through the physical submission of documentation at the Visa Application Center. 

Then, during the analysis and once approved, these Visit Visas (VIVIS) may be issued electronically, without stamping it o the passport. Regarding the new procedure, please find below the important information made available so far: 

  1. Application Procedure: Initially, Visit Visas (VIVIS) for Business purposes will continue to be applied for through the physical submission of documentation at the Visa Application Center;
  2. Email’s Address: All applicants for VIVIS Business visas will need to provide valid and accurate email’s address, to which the electronic visa (PDF format) have to be sent;
  3. Passports (submission and return): In cases where no physical visa is stamped, applicants are advised to check the application status on the Visa Application Center website to ascertain if the visa has been approved. If a visa has been granted, applicants should check their email inboxes, including spam and junk folders, in order to access their electronic visas;
  4. The electronic visa: Applicants are strongly recommended to print a copy of the electronic visa and carry it when traveling. This action will help and support immigration and procedures with airlines companies and other official authorities.

This measure constitutes an initial phase of electronic visas issuance, which is expected to be expanded to other visa categories in the coming months.The EMDOC Team will be available to answer any questions and provide strategies arising from these changes.
