There are several opportunities for the international naval sector. The Brazilian learning curve allowed us to produce in a year in the pre-salt what took 15 to produce in the Campos Basin. This is an indication that production will recover its pace and demand will be restored not only for platform ships, but for all types of vessels that meet the oil and gas exploration and refining cycle. " The statement, made at the debate session on the future of the offshore and naval industry, on the second day of Marintec South America 2017, is the Director of Technical and Inspection of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Paulo Moreira de Carvalho, who also spoke on the future investments in the pre-salt and the impact on the demand in the naval production.

Carvalho also stressed that one of the challenges facing the country is to adapt the regulatory framework in order to encourage investment and international participation. "Reconciling the pace needed for development with the imposition of local content is a major challenge. Today this is a limiting requirement, "he said.

According to Paulo Carvalho, the MME has several projects that extrapolate the scope of oil, also covering gas and fuels, which are also investment opportunities. "Scheduled auctions should give a new rhythm to development and production in the country; The national and international industries must be prepared because we can now indicate a more accurate projection of demand to the market, which has always been a request from companies. "

Following that, the Norwegian Shipowners' Association executive director, Ricardo César Fernandes, recalled that the country will have 19 new oil and gas production units by 2021, "which is a great new business opportunity for the offshore industry. However, this perspective has not yet impacted the naval market. Modifications to the regulatory framework that encourage foreign companies to invest in the country are to be expected. "

The director of Maersk Supply Service Latin America, João Paulo Braz, warned that the maritime market is reorganizing in terms of supply and demand. "The world fleet exceeds demand for transportation by almost 50%. In addition, there is a merger and acquisition process that changes the dynamics of tonnage supply. However, in the oil and gas market, pre-salt production is expected to soon exceed that of non-pre-salt, which indicates that there is a prospect of cooling demand for the supply chain in the shipping industry. "

Innovation Space - Cummins Marine, the world's largest independent diesel engine manufacturer, was one of the highlights of the second day of talks at Marintec's "Space Innovation", a place designed and recognized for anticipating market trends and and to highlight what is most modern and innovative at the present time for the naval industry.

"Hybrid Assisted Maritime Propulsion Systems" was the theme of the talk given by Eric Marini, Cummins Marine Product Manager at "Space Innovation". "We have increased our efforts to offer electrification products to this industry by delivering our systems that include electric batteries and hybrid plug-ins planned for 2019." Cummins has already signaled its intentions to be a leader in providing powertrain, not only in the naval sector, but in all markets where it operates, commercial and industrial.

During the three days of the event, consolidated companies, in the national and international scenarios, presented in Espaço Inovação their new technologies and solutions to the sector and brought high level contents on automation systems, onboard communication, construction, preventive maintenance, navigation, Marine propulsion, piping sealing and many other technologies applied to the maritime and offshore market were exhibited. Among the speakers, executives and technicians of companies such as Aveva, Cummins, JRC do Brasil, Mareste, Marine Express, Metalock Brasil, Navetron, Roxtec, Sotreq and Wärtsilä.
