The relationship between Brazil and the United States is pragmatic and there is no sign that it will change. The assessment is the president of the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), Robson Braga de Andrade, who reminds us that the United States is the main destination of Brazilian exports. Currently, the US is the largest recipient of Brazilian investment abroad in terms of number of companies, and Brazil has been home to the main American companies for several decades.
"The reactions between our economies and society is very strong and no government will work for its weakening. More attention must be paid to actions than to discourse. Let's wait for the new government to be set up so we can have a better orientation on which path the US will take, "says Robson Braga de Andrade.
For industry, the priorities remain the same. And the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) will continue to prioritize the agenda with the United States and will work through the US-Brazil Business Council, with its US counterpart, US Chamber, to advance the agenda of agreements between the two countries(Trade, investment and to avoid double taxation) and to promote bilateral investments.
The CNI also believes that greater isolation from the United States is bad for the world economy, which includes Brazil. Americans are the main political sponsors of globalization and free trade. Without its leadership, protectionism strenghens and the economy becomes more unstable.
