The Campos Basin is the main sedimentary area already explored on the Brazilian coast. It extends from the vicinity of the city of Vitória (ES) to Arraial do Cabo, on the north coast of Rio de Janeiro, in an area of approximately 100,000 square kilometers.
The first field with commercial volume discovered in the Campos Basin was Garoupa in 1974, 124 meters deep. The following year we discovered the field of Namorado and, in 1976, that of Enchova. It was the beginning of a long series. The path was the sea: on August 13, 1977, the Campos Basin began its commercial offshore production in Enchova.
Round 14
The 14th round of bids for ANP's oil and natural gas fields marks the return of Campos Basin areas after the 13th in 2015, with no bid. Ten areas will be offered in deep waters, outside the polygon of the pre-salt. They are: CM35, CM37, CM65, CM67, CM210, CM277, CM344, CM346, CM411 and CM413.
In addition to blocks in the Campos Basin, which total an area of 3,400 km2, occupying the fourth smallest exploration area, being only the front of the Pelotas Basin, which has a total of 2,600 km2 offshore and, currently, without Exploratory activity.
In summary, the ANP's 14th auction will include 111 offshore blocks located in the Santos Basins, in Sergipe and Alagoas, Pelotas, Campos and Espírito Santo.
With this, the city of Macaé / RJ, the main oil center of the country, housing the main companies in the sector, could benefit, since in addition to Petrobras, there is always the possibility of other operators to take over these areas, bringing new development to the region.
