The number of CBios generated by biofuel producers and registered with B3 surpassed the 13 million mark. This value represents practically 90% of the official target for decarbonization bonds scheduled for 2020 (14.998 million). The demand for purchase by the distributors, however, is still below expectations.
“Producers have invested in certification and are fulfilling their role in offering CBios”, adds Antonio de Padua Rodrigues, technical director of UNICA. In fact, data from the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP) show that 209 ethanol producing units have already been certified since the beginning of the program. In total, adding biodiesel and biomethane producers, the number of certifications reaches 232 producers.
Most certified producers are located in the State of São Paulo (113 units), followed by Goiás (28 companies) and Minas Gerais (25 companies). The UNICA executive says that "despite the expressive offer of CBios by producers, in recent weeks we have been seeing low demand from distributors". The ethanol market is recovering and producers will continue to offer CBios, with the expectation of exceeding the target set for this year as early as November, he added.
