Next Monday (29), representatives of the Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber – CCEE will travel to Paris to defend the creation of a working group focused on the certification of energy that will be used in the production of renewable hydrogen. The proposal will be taken to the 2022 session of the International Committee for the Production and Transmission of Electric Energy - CIGRE, the largest global community in the sector.

The initiative, which has already been pre-approved by the body, should be led by Brazil and, according to the CCEE, will be fundamental to position the country as a reference in the production of the input in a clean way. The group will count on the contribution of the Chamber itself and of members from other interested countries.

Considered the fuel of the future, hydrogen presents itself as a very promising business for Brazil, which could be one of the main exporters of the product, given the country's full potential for the generation of renewable energy. In addition to the capacity of hydroelectric plants, wind farms and solar projects installed in the national territory continue to break constant production records and have exponential growth prospects.

“The guarantee of origin for the electric energy that will be used in the production of hydrogen will certainly be a minimum requirement for us to be able to sell the input internationally. That is why certification is such an important topic”, explains Rui Altieri, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber. By the end of 2022, CCEE will launch a simplified certification model targeting this market, with plans to expand the service in the coming years.
