Regarding news stories published in the press, Petrobras clarifies that it is unaware of any investigation under way at the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) or Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The company has not been notified by either of these two institutions about the launch of any investigations to identify any violations of U.S. law, in view of the allegations made within the scope of the Brazilian Federal Police’s “Operação Lava Jato” money-laundering probe.

Petrobras, through Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, the U.S. firm hired by the company to conduct independent investigations, has already made contact with the DoJ and the SEC, informing them of the start of work to investigate these allegations at the company.
