During the first CEO Talks session at Rio Pipeline 2023 on Tuesday, August 8th, Claudio Romeo Schlosser (photo), Director of Commercialization, Logistics, and Markets at Petrobras, addressed the need for transformation in the energy industry and emphasized the importance of integrating new technologies into the company's processes towards the future. "It is possible to estimate that by 2050, oil and gas will have an even more significant role in our energy matrix. It's a significant challenge, but the moment is auspicious for new opportunities to arise," he stated.
According to the executive, the changing landscape has been influenced by pipeline logistics in the country. "In the past, building pipelines along the coast was interesting. Sometimes, it was necessary to replace coastal shipping and face challenges in modernizing ports. How could we supply the market in a country with such an extensive coastline? However, today, the reality is completely different because we have reversed all of that. The strength of agriculture and the generation of a significant GDP point towards the direction of the country's center, which leads us to consider that pipelines are extremely competitive, safe, and have a carbon footprint practically 90% lower than alternative transportation modes," he highlighted.
In addition to participating in the special session moderated by the President of the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP), Roberto Ardenghy, Schlosser represented Petrobras' President, Jean Paul Prates, at the opening ceremony of the event, which included the participation of the Director-General of the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP), Rodolfo Henrique Saboia, the Secretary of Energy and Maritime Economics of Rio de Janeiro, Hugo Leal, and Senator Laércio Oliveira (PP-PE).
Petrobras will have a prominent role throughout the Rio Pipeline 2023 program, which concludes on Thursday, August 10th. The company's professionals will also be involved in three special sessions, a workshop, and 17 technical papers that will deepen the understanding of the opening of the gas market in Brazil, discuss the sector's expansion with the entry of new players, and address the reliability and competitiveness of the industry.
