Petrobras has completed the largest seismic survey in the world, in the Onerous Cession area of Búzios, located in the Santos basin, about 200km from the city of Rio de Janeiro. The project, named 3D Búzios Nodes was started in November 2018 and used OBN (ocean botton nodes) technology for setting receivers in the bottom of the ocean in 6.600 positions, in an area of 1.620km2, corresponding to four Guanabara basins, with depths varying from 1.600 to 2.200m. The technique used is among the most modern in high resolution, tridimensional image building in oil reserves.

The work was made with a partnership with CGG (Compagine Générale de Géophysique) and Seabed Geosolutions, which used the Manta ® model as a seismic receiver. This model is capable of registering data continuously for 75 days in up to 3.000m of depth.

For the data acquisition, the OBN receivers registered seismic reflexions generated by acoustic waves transmitted by a source boat. From now on, the registered information will undergo the seismic processing phase, which consists of the application of specific computational techniques in the creations of geology imagery in subsurface. The product of this work will result in high quality geophysical data.

The information obtained by this survey will support the development and management of the production in the Búzios oil field, maximizing the economicity and the field's recovery factor.
