Rio Automação - The first day of the Rio Automação Congress was marked by a great debate about digital transformation, in all spheres of the oil and gas industry, from business to the workforce.

André Clark, CEO of Siemens Brazil, stated at the opening plenary that the business plan today is about data and automation and instrumentation have become a priority in companies. "We are protagonists of the future itself and the moment is unique, so we are firm in our purpose of developing the sector."

For Augusto Borella, general manager of Digital Transformation of Petrobras, "the digital transformation process aims at the operational transference to machines and human prioritization in more strategic and inspiring activities". Still for him, "the challenge of the industry is to guarantee the conditions of this transformation by investing in training, training and training of labor, with change of attitude and processes to better take advantage of this exponential and innovative environment, where the use of technologies in the sector of oil and gas provide the possibility of remote operation, increased safety and reduced costs. "

Digital transformation also has a major impact on operational safety. According to Vitor Kiem, CEO MSA Safety, "as the offshore company becomes digitized, tools such as data analysis, artificial intelligence and cognitive computing optimize operations and security, with asset integration, data capture and predictive analytics, it is possible to analyze a large amount of information about potential risks, increasing security exponentially. "

The impact of digital transformation on the workforce also permeated much of the discussions, Career ThinkTank brought together HR leaders from major players in the oil and gas industry to present the demands of hiring profiles in the industry and identify the knowledge gaps they need be filled by the market and academia.

In the "Digital Transformation as a Tool for Operational Efficiency" panel, the theme returned to the discussion center. According to Tarcísio Romero de Oliveira, Aveva's Digital Acceleration Consulting for Latin America, "the road to digital transformation goes far beyond digitalisation. The transformation takes place from the renovation of the work, made possible by the digitalization. We are necessarily talking about people, processes and technologies, in that order. "

Rio Automação Congress is sponsored by Petrobras, Aveva, Siemens, Honeywell, KPMG and MSA Safety, with support from Dassault Systems, ABCE and ISA Rio de Janeiro.

COTEQ - Organized by IBP, in partnership with ABENDI, ABCM, ABRACO and FBTS, the 15th Conference on Equipment Technology (Coteq) also brought debates in its plenary that permeated the safety and efficiency of the industry, digital transformation and social inclusion. According to Tânia Cosentino, president of Microsoft Brazil, "the importance of convergence between IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operation Technology) for business optimization and artificial intelligence can and should be used to accelerate business development, promote modeling and simulation, increase security and optimize manufacturing operations. "

Tânia also stressed the need to attract women to work in the technological area, which today corresponds to only 20% of the workforce. The executive also highlighted the growing demand for qualified professionals to serve the technology industry. "IDC (International Data Corporation) studies indicate that there are half a million open positions that we can not meet until 2021. That's because we annually train 40,000 professionals in the technology area, but the demand is 70,000 professionals. That is, there is a big gap for the job market. "

The president of Microsoft Brazil says that the country must pay attention to two essential factors in this resumption of economic growth: the lack of energy and qualified people. "How do we embark on diversity and increase the talent pool? How do we quickly requalify professionals to work in this new market? And how do we manage to retain people in the oil and gas sector so they can acquire the expertise they need? "

José Firmo, president of IBP, stressed during the opening about the relevance of the investment in new technologies by the Brazilian industry. "In this moment of transition of the oil and gas sector and major challenges, it is essential to invest in innovation and technology. If our projects fail to promote a competitive environment, all resources will migrate to other businesses, such as the American gas shale. The world is changing and these changes have also reached our industry "

During the first day of Coteq's congress, the technical and special sessions were programmed for equipment integrity and operational efficiency of industrial installations, storage tank inspection, metal surface preparation, NR-13 PH certification, integrity of equipment in the vision of safety of processes, boilers and pressure vessels of serial production certified according to ordinances of Inmetro and repairs and alterations in pressure vessels and boilers.

The event is sponsored by Petrobras, Eletronuclear and PetroRio, with support from AbesPetro, ABIMAQ, ABNT, Abraman, Abrisco, Asarendi, CCPS, Sistema Firjan, ICZ, Metalmat, Plural, Sebrae, SindiGas and YPP-Brazil.
