Former Yesha Council leader excited to take on the challenge of expanding Israel's ties with Latin America, he says.

Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Binyamin Netanyahu decided to appoint former Yesha Council chairman Dani Dayan as Israel's ambassador to Brazil.

Brazil, the largest country in South America, is populated by approximately 200 million people and has the world's seventh largest economy. Israel has made it its emphasis on developing trade ties with the international markets in South America and especially Brazil.

Dayan, born in Argentina, 59, is married and father to one. He has a master's degree in finance, was chairman of the Yesha Council between 2007-2013 and worked on a daily basis in information campaigns in Israel and abroad.

Dayan was for years one of the founders and owners of Elad Software Systems and served as chairman of its board of directors and its subsidiaries.

Netanyahu said that "Latin America is one of the main targets of the State of Israel as part of efforts to develop new markets that will contribute to increasing growth in the economy."

"I am confident that Danny Dayan would bring to the position extensive experience and deepen the relations between Israel and Brazil."

"I have accepted the challenge posed by the Prime Minister to deepen the relations between Israel and Brazil," Dayan responded. "I assured the prime minister that I will not spare any effort and creativity in fulfilling the strategic task imposed on me."
