The Industrial Entrepreneur Confidence Index (ICEI) of the Electrical and Electronic Sector, according to CNI data aggregated by Abinee, reached 63.1 points in September 2020, 4.9 points above that verified in August this year (58.2) . This was the fourth consecutive increase in the indicator.
With these increases, the sector's ICEI exceeded, for the first time, the index verified in February 2020 (62.3 points), a period prior to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on economic activity. The Confidence Index in September also exceeded the one registered in the same month last year (56.7 points).
The ICEI is composed of the current conditions index and the expectations index. In September 2020, increases were observed in these two indices, with emphasis on the 9-point increase in the current conditions index, which went from 49 points to 58 points. The expectations index increased from 63 to 65 points, showing an improvement in expectations in relation to the next six months.
According to the president of Abinee, Humberto Barbato, the result is yet another proof of the resumption of the sector. He considers the increase in confidence in relation to current conditions to be positive. "This indicator signals that companies are already checking the entry of new orders in the factories", he says.
The ICEI ranges from 0 to 100 points, with values above 50 points showing confidence of the industrial entrepreneur and below 50 points indicating lack of confidence.
