The Oil & Gas sector has a supply chain that accounts for 400,000 direct and indirect jobs in Brazil. And today faces a crisis that claimed last year, 24,000 jobs just in the state of Rio de Janeiro. This reflects the importance of the vote, the Senate, the project that eases the rules of the pre-salt exploration, releasing Petrobras to have a minimum 30% stake in exploration blocks and is the only operator.

Petrobras is not now able to assume the responsibilities set out years ago. And only with the change of rules will be possible to attract private investment, stimulating the recovery of the sector and the creation of jobs. Who is against the project takes a position contrary to the interests of those who claim to defend workers. They just want to return or keep their jobs. This position also reveals a selfish attachment to old ideologies, which this time will only result in an increased social cost of a serious crisis affecting the sector.

For thousands of workers and their families, the only chance of a better life in the short term may be just the adoption by the Senate, the easing of oil exploration project.
