The volume of hydrated ethanol traded on the São Paulo spot market last week remained practically stable, and the price of biofuel continued to fall. According to Cepea employees, demand decreased, and only occasional purchases were made in the period. Between June 22 and 26, the CEPEA / ESALQ Indicator for hydrates closed at R $ 1.6166 / liter (without ICMS and without PIS / Cofins), a decrease of 2.66% in relation to the previous period.

It is worth remembering that, throughout June, prices rose in the first half of the year, but fell in the second. In addition to the drop in demand, the need for part of the industries to "make cash" also put pressure on prices, given that sellers were more flexible in negotiated prices. The sale of hydrated ethanol without ICMS ("deferred") also influenced the decrease in the São Paulo average, even though businesses in this operation are not included in the Cepea Indicator.

In the case of anhydrous ethanol, the CEPEA / ESALQ indicator also decreased slightly by 0.27%, closing at R $ 1.8712 / liter (without PIS / Cofins). Demand for anhydrous slowed sharply, resulting in a significant drop in the volume traded by distributors in the spot market.
