Rio Pipeline 2023, which is part of the international conference calendar for the pipeline market in Brazil and around the world, offered the public a free area with 70 exhibitors. During the exhibition, attendees were able to explore innovations, trends, and studies in the pipeline sector, ranging from the use of dogs to detect leaks of odorless gases, to infrastructure and logistics plans, and even the use of augmented reality as an immersive experience at the event.

In the area of the Energy Research Company (EPE), company technicians provided detailed insights into a series of infrastructure and logistics plans for the sector, including the indicative plan for gas transportation pipelines and the indicative plan for LNG terminals. Additionally, by the end of the Pipeline event, EPE held six presentations and showcased five technical works, along with participation in special sessions.

A hit among visitors, the Pipeline Technology Center (CTDUT) made presentations with the Belgian Shepherd dog, Toruk. He stole the spotlight because, in a groundbreaking initiative in Brazil, he demonstrates the ability to sniff out odorless gas leaks, such as methane, for example. Known as canine biodetection, it can pinpoint the exact location of leaks – which can even aid in companies' goal of reducing emissions of polluting gases, offering a low-cost and innovative alternative.

The exclusive Transpetro room, a 122m² area, housed a space for meetings and another for brand activation and a living area, complete with sofas, cellphone charging stations, and coffee. The company also created a dedicated space for the "Papo de Dutos" podcast, a studio where guests are invited to record programs about pipeline operation technology, ESG agenda, among other topics.

Embracing high technology, TAG and TBG brought their control centers to the stands they set up at Pipeline. TAG provided virtual reality goggles that transported visitors inside their control center for a three-minute visit. Meanwhile, TBG created an augmented reality booth where visitors could visualize locations like the right of way, the decompression station in Paulínia, and other points.

For instance, IEC showcased new developments in its space that promise to have a significant impact on the pipeline market, such as the line of polisobutene-based coatings STOPAQ/EasyQote for above-ground, buried, and submerged pipelines and storage tanks. According to IEC, these coatings offer high efficiency, ease of application with simple surface preparation, and self-healing properties.

In addition to the exhibition, Rio Pipeline, which concluded on Thursday, the 10th, featured five CEO Talks, four plenary sessions, 12 special sessions, three workshops, 212 technical papers from 15 different countries, 14 invited papers and lectures, and over 90 hours of lectures and technical content offered to registered attendees.
