Governor Fábio Mitidieri participated in the opening of Sergipe Oil & Gas 2025 on Wednesday, July 23. The event continues until Friday, July 25, in a multi-format setup, with various activities taking place simultaneously. Previously organized solely as a congress, the event has been expanded in its fourth edition to also include a business fair.
During the opening, the governor spoke about the progress of the Sergipe Deep Waters (SEAP) project.
“Sergipe is once again gaining national prominence in the oil and gas market and becoming a reference point. Petrobras has just announced that the auction for Sergipe Deep Waters, originally scheduled for August, has been postponed to September in order to allow more time for new proposals. We hope everything goes well, as there are high expectations in our society for transforming Sergipe through natural gas exploration,” he emphasized.
Representing Petrobras President Magda Chambriard, Stênio Jaime Galvão, Executive Manager for Onshore and Shallow Water, highlighted the company’s plans for the state of Sergipe.
“We have resumed investments in Sergipe. The Sergipe Deep Waters project is progressing, and our Director Sílvia will be here on Friday to present the project in detail. We are very optimistic about this moment, as the maturation of this project is essential for future success,” stated the executive. He also mentioned another key development for the state: the reopening of the fertilizer plant (FAFEN), expected later this year. According to Stênio, the return of FAFEN is expected to generate 1,500 jobs in Sergipe.
Agreements Signed
During the event, Governor Mitidieri signed two technical consultancy service contracts with the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV). The first, signed through the State Secretariat for Economic Development and Science and Technology (Sedetec), aims to develop a detailed technical study to assess the port infrastructure of Sergipe. The second will be executed with the Regulatory Agency for Public Services of the State of Sergipe (Agrese), with the goal of preparing a study on the use of local human and technical resources in the decommissioning of offshore platforms along the Sergipe coast.
Organized by Austral and Brainmarket, the event is supported by the Government of Sergipe, through Sedetec.
“This edition strategically consolidates the state of Sergipe as part of the country’s energy future,” stated Sedetec Secretary Valmor Barbosa.
Exhibition Area
The exhibition area includes a Government of Sergipe booth, for the second consecutive year, through Sedetec and Sergas, which is the event’s master sponsor. In 2024, the booth was also organized by Sedetec, with support from the Sergipe Economic Development Company (Codise).
Petrobras served as the main sponsor of the event, taking advantage of the growing visibility of the Sergipe Deep Waters (SEAP) project and the upcoming announcement of the winning bid for the FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) platforms—floating units for oil and gas production, storage, and offloading.
Sergipe Oil & Gas 2025 is expected to generate R$ 200 million in business deals and attract around 3,500 visitors. Last year’s edition welcomed 2,650 attendees.
The 2025 edition also aims to strengthen the event’s international profile, with foreign speakers and simultaneous translation of lectures and activities.
