Sonda, the largest IT services provider of Latin America, won a public bidding to manage the main management systems of Gasmig, one of the largest natural gas distributors in Brazil, serving more than 50,000 customers in Minas Gerais, in the southeast of the country.

The project includes the management of Gasmig's entire SAP platform, from customer relationship management (CRM) to enterprise management (ERP) and business management (billing) systems. It involves more than 100 SONDA professionals who assist the requests of Application Management Services (AMS) and Project Development – both with corrective and proactive support for systems improvement.

The gas company was already using the SAP platform. Now Sonda is in charge of mapping the areas of improvement and analyzing the backlogs to suggest the improvements. The team has also initiated the management of the current support.

The CEO of Gasmig, Pedro Magalhães, explains that the company has transformed its business, expanded the portfolio of clients and SONDA comes to support this growth. “With our access to the consumer market, we have grown from 300 to 50,000 customers, expecting to quadruple that number in the coming years. We were looking for a strong IT provider because it has become critical to our expansion”, says Magalhães.

Gasmig first started with the industrial market, in 1992, by distributing gas from Refinery Gabriel Passos (Regap), in Betim. The company started to offer gas to the residential segment eleven years later, in 2013. In the same year, it also started the operations in the commercial segment; linking Gasmig's network to merchants like restaurants, hospitals, hotels, and gyms.

Flavio Soares, Sonda Utilities Account Director, said the project could become a benchmark for the gas market. “This contract reinforces that it is possible to settle a partnership, delivering services in an agile, intelligent and proactive way, without neglecting innovation”, comments Soares.
