GDF Suez Gas NA (GSGNA) said that it has named Frank Katulak as its new President and CEO. Frank Katulak brings more than 30 Years of Natural Gas and LNG Experience to the Position.
Katulak has been working in the natural gas and LNG industries for more than 30 years, with the last 15 years of his experience in GDF SUEZ’s U.S. LNG business. Most recently, he oversaw the operations of the Everett Marine Terminal, as President and Chief Operating Officer of Distrigas of Massachusetts LLC. While in that position, he served as a key advocate of LNG’s importance to the terminal’s traditional Northeast customer base of gas utilities and power producers; to potential new retail LNG customers in the marine, trucking, and commercial-industrial sectors; and to the international market.
Katulak has broad experience in working with public officials and media at the federal, state, and local level, and has served on numerous U.S. and international technical committees with respect to LNG operations. He is also a member of the National Fire Protection Association’s 59A Committee.
Prior to joining GDF SUEZ, Katulak was Director of Gas Operations and managed an LNG facility for The Brooklyn Union Gas Company, a predecessor company to National Grid.
“I look forward to working with new and existing customers, and expanding the role of natural gas and LNG in North America,” said Katulak. “Throughout North America, the energy landscape is changing like never before, and it is exciting to be with a company positioned to forge new opportunities and key partnerships that will have far reaching benefits, both economically and environmentally.”
“Frank’s extensive understanding of not only the energy industry but also the key players make him a true asset to this position and to our company’s ability to grow in the expanding North American natural gas marketplace,” said Zin Smati, President and Chief Executive Officer of GDF SUEZ Energy North America. “I am confident that Frank will play a major role in extending GDF SUEZ’s reach within North America’s dynamic energy landscape.”
Katulak holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from The Cooper Union in New York and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Brooklyn Law School.
