Chevron said yesterday that the company’s US$54 billion Gorgon LNG project in Australia is 78 percent complete, with 65 percent of the LNG already committed under long-term contracts.

Company also revealed that the start-up date for first LNG from the Gorgon project has been pushed back to mid-2015, instead of the first quarter, the company said in an investor update. The company said that offshore pipe laying was now complete and that almost 6,000 people are working on constructing the massive LNG project.

Wheatstone LNG project, the company’s second LNG project in Australia, is 30 percent complete, with 85 percent of the project’s LNG committed under long-term contracts.
