On December 13, MME will launch the RenovaBio program with the "Ethanol - RenovaBio 2030" Workshop, whose objective is to promote the expansion of biofuels production in Brazil, based on the agreement signed at COP 21, In Paris, to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. With this, the proposal is to double ethanol production by 2030, equivalent to 18% of the share in the Brazilian energy matrix.
The plan was announced by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Fernando Bezerra Coelho Filho, during the Única Forum held last week in São Paulo. Currently, about 30 billion liters of ethanol are produced per crop. Therefore, with this measure, it is expected that production will increase 20 billion liters per year / harvest.
According to the minister, "it is a national policy-making plan that aims to provide tranquility and predictability so that investors can have security in making decisions about investments in the sector," he said in a statement.
