Another step by Sergipe towards expanding the natural gas market in Brazil, the state was a pioneer with the inauguration of the project connecting Eneva's Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal and Thermoelectric Complex to the Transportadora de Associada de Gás (TAG) network. On Wednesday, the 23rd, Governor Fábio Mitidieri, along with the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, and the Minister-Chief of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Márcio Macêdo, visited the construction site of the ENEVA LNG Terminal Pipeline – TAG Transportation Network, located in the municipality of Barra dos Coqueiros, in the metropolitan region of Aracaju.

The investment enables access to an important supply source for the national energy demand. During the visit, Governor Fábio Mitidieri highlighted the importance of this delivery for the state. “We are experiencing an important moment, in a week when Sergipe is the capital of oil and gas,” he pointed out, referring to the 3rd edition of Sergipe Oil & Gas.

Fábio Mitidieri added that the state administration is working to secure more investments for the state, reduce prices, expand gas distribution to the interior, and ensure that jobs remain in Sergipe. “We want our state to develop more and more, and with that, generate more opportunities for our people,” he emphasized.

During the visit, the Minister of Mines and Energy stated that Sergipe is a reference in the gas regulation model in the country. “We want to take Sergipe's example to all of Brazil and fulfill the policy of increasing the gas supply, reducing prices, reindustrializing Brazil, generating jobs and income, combating inequality in a solid way, and building a better society,” said Alexandre Silveira.

Minister Márcio Macêdo highlighted the role of uniting different powers and sectors in this process. “When working together, results start to appear. The federal government is investing around R$ 60 million from the PAC [Growth Acceleration Program] through Petrobras; the State Government has prepared the state with the objective conditions to receive these actions; and the private sector comes in and decides to invest in Brazil. This is about working so that Sergipe can generate jobs, generate income, boost the economy, and help Brazil become self-sufficient in gas,” he added.

About the pipeline

The Government of Sergipe supported the construction of the pipeline through the granting of tax incentives, approved by the Industrial Development Council of Sergipe (CDI), for the acquisition of the manufactured pipes.

The incentive, part of the Sergipe Industrial Development Program (PSDI), reduced costs in acquiring the material and, consequently, the investment amount for the project, resulting in a more competitive transportation tariff and favoring the attraction of operations to Eneva's LNG terminal.
