As production systems become more complex and interconnected, operators face increasing pressure to make faster and more consistent decisions. Production performance improves when teams manage reservoirs, wells, networks, equipment, and safety systems as a single connected asset. By integrating engineering models with operational data in context, they gain a clearer view of the system as a whole and support more consistent decisions throughout production operations.

Halliburton and Shape Digital have established a strategic collaboration to advance digital asset performance management through a unified vision that connects subsurface and surface intelligence. The partnership expands the use of trusted data, domain science, operational expertise, and applied AI to support predictive asset-level decisions throughout the entire production lifecycle.

"At the core of this collaboration is the ability to connect decisions across the entire production system," said Tony Antoun, Senior Vice President of Landmark Software and Services at Halliburton. "The integration between subsurface and surface intelligence helps our customers plan with confidence, adapt to changes, and execute more consistently throughout the asset's lifecycle."

"Together with Halliburton, we bring operational intelligence and applied AI to the context of real production systems," said Felipe Baldissera (photo), CEO of Shape Digital. "This collaboration contributes to better planning, more efficient operations, and improved safety outcomes at scale."

The collaboration combines Halliburton Landmark's Digital Field Solver® (DFS) decision system with Shape Digital's applied AI portfolio: Shape Lighthouse, Aura, and Reef. Landmark's integrated reservoir, well, and production network models form the foundation, while Shape Digital enhances the solution with expertise in equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and safety in surface operations. Together, the solutions enable connected decision workflows.

Connecting production planning across the entire asset

Effective production planning depends on visibility into how reservoir behavior, well performance, facility constraints, and equipment conditions interact over time. When these elements are evaluated together, production plans remain aligned even in the face of changes.

Through this collaboration, Landmark's integrated reservoir, well, and network models receive continuous updates from surface intelligence related to equipment conditions and reliability. Shape Digital applies AI to assess equipment behavior in real-time and historically, while Landmark provides the system context to understand impacts on flow, constraints, and production targets.

This connection helps teams identify constraints earlier, respond more quickly to variabilities, and maintain alignment as operational conditions evolve.

Improving energy efficiency with an integrated asset view

Energy efficiency depends on a clear understanding of how facilities operate within the broader production system. When process performance is evaluated in isolation, it can limit the ability to balance efficiency initiatives with production objectives.

The collaboration connects detailed facility data — including real-time and historical operating conditions — with Landmark's production schedules and operational context. Shape Digital applies AI and engineering expertise to analyze facility performance and energy consumption, while Landmark provides insights into how operational adjustments interact with production plans and system constraints.

This approach helps teams evaluate trade-offs between energy efficiency and production targets while maintaining operational stability.

Strengthening safety and asset integrity

Safe and reliable operations require visibility into facility integrity, process safety, and well integrity. When these elements are considered together, teams gain a clearer view of how subsurface conditions influence surface risks and how surface operations impact well integrity over time.

With this collaboration, teams evaluate process safety and facility integrity information alongside well integrity and subsurface conditions. Shape Digital applies intelligence focused on facility health and operational risk indicators, while Landmark provides the necessary context to understand how risks can propagate throughout the asset.

This view allows for earlier identification of integrity concerns and improves coordination between subsurface and surface teams regarding critical safety decisions.

By integrating production planning, energy efficiency, and asset integrity, the collaboration reduces fragmentation between disconnected workflows. Operations, maintenance, safety, and engineering teams begin working with a shared view of the system, allowing for faster priority alignment. This approach shortens the path between insight and action, promoting clearer recommendations and more consistent execution in production operations.

Support for asset performance management

The collaboration between Halliburton and Shape Digital reflects a broader industry shift toward science-based decisions, driven by intelligent automation and validated by real operations. By connecting subsurface and surface intelligence, this approach helps operators handle complexity, maintain operational consistency, and maximize performance throughout the entire asset lifecycle.
