The average production of ethanol in the United States was 672 thousand barrels per day in the week ended on April 3, a volume 20% lower than that registered in the previous week, of 840 thousand barrels per day. The figures were released recently by the country's Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Biofuel inventories increased by 5.4% to 27.1 million barrels.
The ethanol production figures in the United States are an important indicator of domestic demand for corn. In the country, biofuel is manufactured mainly with grain and the local industry consumes more than a third of the domestic crop.
