Following the recent lift of economic sanctions, Iran is expected to play a major role at the 22nd WPC.

Representatives of the Turkish National Committee took the opportunity to meet with their Iranian counterparts in Tehran during the 2016 Iran Oil Show from 5-8 May.

The Iranian National Committee for the WPC is planning a considerable presence at the 22nd World Petroleum Congress with an official Iranian pavilion at the World Petroleum Exhibition.

The support of Iran's large state companies, NIOC, NIORDC, NIGC and NPC was confirmed at meetings held during the event, with further interest from OIEC, Dana Energy and Mapna Group for the 22nd WPC Exhibition. The Iranian Youth Committee for the WPC were also present at the Iran Oil Show, sharing a stand with the 22nd WPC Organising Committee, and taking the opportunity to meet with several hundreds of visitors.
