One of the main awards of the oil industry in Brazil, the Award Leopoldo Miguez, was awarded to Joao Carlos De Luca, former director of Petrobras (where he worked 24 years), former Chairman of Repsol YPF Brazil and current partner of Barra Energia. De Luca led the IBP for 14 years.
The president of IBP, Jorge Camargo, highlighted the "moral and ethical values that paved the great leadership" of De Luca, the largest of a whole generation of oil workers.
In his speech, De Luca said these same values, family legacy, simplicity and relationship skills also learned in their roots. "I started working 12 years helping my mother's shop and I never stopped. I am proud of everything I've done, "he said.
The youngest Director of Exploration and Production of Petrobras, the executive said that "it is not true" that to get the direction of the company "we must have political statement." "I and Camargo are proof of that," he said.
