One of the main gatherings of the country’s energy sector, Macaé Energy began this Tuesday (17) at the Jornalista Roberto Marinho Convention Center in Macaé. Until the 19th, the event brings together companies, specialists, and sector representatives to discuss challenges and opportunities in Brazil’s oil, gas, and energy industry.

The institutional opening was attended by the president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Luiz Césio Caetano (photo); the regional president of Firjan Norte Fluminense, Francisco Roberto de Siqueira; Equinor Brasil’s operations director, Paulo Van Der Ven; the deputy mayor of Macaé, Fabiano Paschoal; the member of the Steering Committee of Rede Petro‑BC, Thadeu Paravidino; and federal deputy Eduardo Pazuello.

The conference is structured over three days with themes aligned with the main pillars of the energy industry. On this first day, discussions focused on the oil sector, with emphasis on exploration, production, and opportunities for suppliers. Among the program highlights was the presentation by Paulo Van Der Ven on the Raia Project, one of the largest energy and gas infrastructure investments for the coming years.

With around six thousand registered participants in this third edition, Macaé Energy strengthens the city of Macaé as a strategic hub in the business environment geared toward the energy, oil, and gas markets.

“Macaé Energy is an event that has become consolidated and is now part of the national energy calendar, which is evident from the number of registrations achieved and the more than one thousand percent growth compared to last year. On this first day, we highlighted the theme of oil, which will remain fundamental to the global economy for a long time. In addition, the initiative also brings together new projects and new technologies that reinforce Macaé as the energy capital,” emphasizes the president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Luiz Césio Caetano.

Believing in the strength of the municipality, the event also includes an exhibition area featuring companies from the local productive chain, with small and medium-sized enterprises alongside major market players such as Atlas Copco.

The company presents as a highlight the NGP 1000+ nitrogen generator, as explained by marketing coordinator Cintia Tombolato. “The nitrogen generator operates in an integrated manner with other compressed air systems and offers benefits such as significant reductions in CO₂ emissions and costs, as well as fewer pieces of equipment and less required space,” she notes.

Closing of the first day highlights opportunities for Brazil

The first day concluded with a panel featuring Firjan’s General Manager of Oil, Gas, Energy, and Naval, Karine Fragoso; the president of IBP, Roberto Ardenghy; and SLB’s general director, Thomas Filiponi.

A key topic was an overview of how the conflict in the Middle East affects global oil and natural gas markets and may alter geopolitics and worldwide energy flows. IBP president Roberto Ardenghy expressed optimism when discussing the effects on the Brazilian market and economy, even in the face of price shocks, given that the country imports LNG and diesel while exporting oil.

“The current crisis may stimulate the growth of oil and natural gas exploration and production in other regions of the world, including Brazil. This is an opportunity for the country to position itself as a competitive and reliable global energy supplier, including in the field of biofuels,” he assessed.
