More than 100 days after the beginning of the economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Santa Catarina market is showing signs of a strong recovery: SCGÁS closed the month of June with an increase of 22.19% in the volume of sales of natural gas in compared to the previous month. In May, growth of 21.13% was also registered in relation to April, after the Company's sales volume reduced by almost half and interrupted a cycle of growth.
In a dynamic scenario and full of uncertainties, one of the factors that guarantee safety to consumers of natural gas are the flexibilities promoted by SCGÁS, which were implemented shortly after the decrees that started the quarantine period in Santa Catarina. “The immediate implementation of an Extraordinary Commercial Policy has been instrumental in mitigating the impacts of the crisis on our customers. We assume transport, margin and tax risks to offset the effects on the market. The broad adhesion of the industries, which consume about 80% of the total volume, shows the positive result of the temporary flexibilities adopted by the Company ”, says SCGÁS president, Willian Anderson Lehmkuhl (photo).
Two other factors also contribute to the good performance of the Santa Catarina market. Among all distributors in the country, SCGÁS has the lowest network implantation cost, so its investments have a smoother impact on tariffs. In addition, the success of the public call made by the Company established a new supply contract with a transition ramp for commercial conditions, keeping Santa Catarina with the best contract in the country in terms of price.
Cheapest natural gas in Brazil
Since July 1, the average 13.5% drop in natural gas tariffs in Santa Catarina has strengthened the reaction of the Santa Catarina market. Today SCGÁS has the lowest tariff in the country, which guarantees the necessary competitiveness for the State's economy to continue growing.
The sales volume of the Company should exceed, in July, the limit contracted by the distributor with the supplier: in the first half of this month there was an increase of more than 30% in relation to the same period of June, with daily sales above two million. cubic meters (considering working days from Monday to Friday).
A new public call for additional supply contracts will be structured and will seek alternatives to increase the supply capacity to the Santa Catarina market, considering the need for greater supply.
