The use of natural gas in Brazil in August reached 97% of the total volume produced, surpassing the record registered in September 2016, when the utilization was 96.8%. Gas flaring totaled 3.4 million cubic meters per day, a decrease of 19.8% compared to the previous month and 31.8% compared to the same month in 2016. The main contribution was the reduction of the gas burned by the P-66 platform, still under commissioning, due to the better use of the gas for internal consumption and the beginning of the injection of part of the gas produced.

Production volume

Oil production in Brazil in August totaled 2.576 million barrels per day (bbl / d), a decrease of 1.8% compared to the previous month and 1.3% compared to the same month in 2016.

Natural gas production totaled 112 million cubic meters per day (m3 / d), a decrease of 2.8% in relation to the previous month and an increase of 2.8% in relation to August 2016.

The total production of oil and natural gas in the country was approximately 3.28 billion barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe / d). The reduction compared to July is mainly due to the programmed shutdowns of the FPSOs Cidade de Marica and Cidade de Itaguaí, both installed in the Lula field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt. The complete bulletin is available at: http://www.anp.gov.br/wwwanp/publicacoes/boletins-anp/2395-multilage-multi-production-production-natural-products.

Pre-salt

Pre-salt production in August totaled approximately 1.573 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, a reduction of 2.5% over the previous month. The output, from 84 wells, was 1.271 million barrels of oil per day and 48 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. The pre-salt production corresponded to 48% of the total produced in Brazil. The "pre-salt" wells are those whose production is carried out in the geological horizon called pre-salt, in fields located in the area defined in section IV of caput of article 2 of Law 12,351 / 2010.

Producer fields

The Lula field, in the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas. It produced, on average, 675 thousand bbl / d of oil and 28.5 million m3 / d of natural gas.

Maritime fields produced 95.1% of oil and 77.8% of natural gas. The production took place in 8,133 wells, of which 743 are seafarers and 7,440 are terrestrial. The fields operated by Petrobras produced 93.7% of the oil and natural gas. Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the largest number of producing wells: 1,087. Marlim Sul, in the Campos Basin, was the maritime field with the largest number of producing wells: 94.

The Petrobras 58 facility, which operates in the area called "Parque das Baleias" (development areas of Jubarte, Baleia Azul, Baleia Franca and Baleia Anã), through 13 interconnected wells, produced 187,800 boe / de was the UEP (Stationary Production Unit) with higher production.

Other information

In August 2017, 303 concessions, operated by 25 companies, were responsible for domestic production. Of these, 80 are maritime and 223 terrestrial concessions. It is worth mentioning that of the total of the production concessions, two are in exploratory activity and produce through Long-Term Test (TLD), and seven are related to contracts in areas containing marginal accumulations.

The average API grade was 26.6, with 32.3% of the production being considered light oil (> = 31 ° API), 52.1% medium oil (> = 22 API and <31 API) and 15.6% oil heavy (<22 API).

The mature terrestrial basins (fields / long-term tests of the Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe and Alagoas basins) produced 130,000 boe / d, of which 104,000 bbl / d of oil and 4.1 million m3 / d of natural gas. Of this total, 124,900 barrels of oil equivalent per day were produced by Petrobras and 5,100 boe / d for concessions not operated by Petrobras, of which 327 boe / d in Alagoas, 2,398 boe / d in Bahia, 67 boe / d in Espírito Santo, 2,138 boe / d in Rio Grande do Norte and 207 boe / d in Sergipe.
