The total production of oil and natural gas in Brazil in January reached about 3.077 million barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) per day, with 2.469 million barrels of oil and 96.6 million cubic meters of natural gas. The production of natural gas was the largest on record, surpassing the previous record of December 2014, when they were produced 95.1 million cubic meters of natural gas.

There was an increase of 20.3% in oil production compared to the same month in 2014 and down 1.1% compared to the previous month. Pre-salt.

The production of pre-salt, coming from 43 wells, was 670,100 barrels per day (bbl / d) of oil and 24.5 million cubic meters per day (m³ / d) of natural gas, totaling 824, 2000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, an increase of 1% over the previous month. The wells of the "pre-salt" are those whose production is carried out in the geological horizon called pre-salt fields located in the area defined in section IV of the caput of art. 2 of Law No. 12,351, 2010.

Gas flaring

The use of natural gas for the month was 95.8%. The burning of natural gas in January was 4 million cubic meters per day, a decrease of approximately 16.6% over the previous month and 15.6% compared to January 2014.

Producing fields

About 92.2% of oil and gas production came from fields operated by Petrobras. Approximately 93.4% of oil production and 75.6% of natural gas production in Brazil were extracted from offshore fields.

The Roncador field in the Campos basin, was the largest oil production, with an average of 346,600 barrels per day, and the Lula field, in the Santos basin, was the largest producer of natural gas, with an average production of 12.1 million cubic meters per day.

The P-52 platform, located in the Roncador field, produced by 17 wells connected to it, about 171,100 barrels of oil equivalent per day and was more production platform. Fields whose contracts are of marginal accumulations produced a total of 74 barrels of oil and 15.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Among these fields, Morro do Barro, operated by Panergy, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas, with 88.5 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The coming production of terrestrial mature basins (fields / TLDs basins of Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Reconcavo, Sergipe and Alagoas) was 167.2 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, 136,500 barrels of oil per day and 4 , 9 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. Of this total, 4,100 barrels of oil equivalent per day were produced by grants not operated by Petrobras, with 398 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the state of Alagoas, 1984 barrels of oil equivalent per day in Bahia, 3 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the Holy Spirit, 1534 barrels of oil equivalent per day in Rio Grande do Norte and 212 barrels of oil equivalent per day in Sergipe.

Other information

In January 2015, 308 concessions operated by 22 companies were responsible for domestic production. Of these, 83 are maritime concessions and 225 land. Of total production concessions, none is in the exploratory activity and producing through Long Duration Test (TLD), and six are on the areas of contracts containing marginal accumulations.

The average API gravity of the oil produced in the month was approximately 24.7, and 9% of production is considered light oil (> = 31 ° API), 57% medium oil (> = 22 API and <31 API) and 34% heavy oil (<22 API), according to the classification of ANP No. 09/2000.

The production of oil and natural gas in Brazil was coming from 9,121 wells, 835 sea and land 8,286. The field with the highest number of producing wells was Canto do Amaro, in the Potiguar basin, with 1,107 wells. Marlim field in the Campos basin, was the maritime field with more producing wells, 61 in total.
