Currently, nine out of ten Brazilians would like to produce their own renewable electricity, using solar photovoltaic systems and other technologies, while 84% of consumers consider the tariff charged on the electricity bill to be expensive or very expensive in the country. the new edition of the Ibope Inteligência 2020 survey, commissioned by the Brazilian Association of Energy Traders (Abraceel). This reflects society's concern for Brazil's post-pandemic competitive and sustainable economic development.

The evaluation is by the CEO of the Brazilian Association of Solar Photovoltaic Energy (ABSOLAR), Rodrigo Sauaia. According to the director, the reason for this strong consumer interest is linked to three fundamental factors: the reduction in prices for photovoltaic equipment, the increasing increase in electricity tariffs for consumers and the growing awareness of Brazilians about economic and sustainability issues.

“Another important factor that is increasingly drawing the attention of governments and the National Congress is the gigantic potential for generating employment and income from solar energy. This will be crucial for Brazilians when they leave the pandemic, which left many unemployed in the country. As it is a very dynamic market, with a strong attraction for investments, solar energy is a lever for Brazil's sustainable economic development ”, explains Sauaia.

“Since 2021, the Brazilian photovoltaic solar sector has already generated more than 182 thousand accumulated jobs and brought more than R $ 31.8 billion in private investments, spread across all regions of the country. By July 2020, the sector generated more than 47 1,000 new jobs, even with the health and economic crisis resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic ”, adds ABSOLAR's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ronaldo Koloszuk. “Solar energy is competitive and few investments are as profitable in Brazil as a photovoltaic system, since the electricity tariff in Brazil is one of the most expensive in the world, which has consistently led many consumers to use the technology, ”added Koloszuk.
