One year after the start of production, the Atapu field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, is already among the 10 largest producers in Brazil, having produced in June 111.763 Mboe/d (one thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day ), being 91,881 Mbbl/d (thousand barrels per day) of oil and 3,161 MMm3/d (million cubic meters per day) of natural gas. This places it as the 4th largest Pre-salt producing field and the 6th largest in Brazil.

Atapu's surplus volumes are among those to be offered in the 2nd Round of Surplus Volumes of the Transfer of Rights, scheduled to take place in December this year (learn more about the round:http://rodadas.anp.gov.br/pt/segunda-rodada-licitacoes-volumes-excedentes-cessao-onerosa).

Consolidated data for the month's production are available in the Monthly Oil and Natural Gas Production Bulletin for the month of June 2021, published today (28/7) at https://www.gov.br/anp/pt-br /content-central/publications/anp-bulletins/monthly-bulletin-of-petroleum-and-natural-gas production. They are also available, interactively, in the Oil and Natural Gas Production Dynamic Panels (https://www.gov.br/anp/pt-br/assuntos/exploracao-e-producao-de-oleo-e-gas/paineis-dinamicos-de-producao-de-petroleo-e-gas-natural).

National Production

Domestic production totaled 3.757 MMboe/d, 2.903 MMbbl/d of oil and 136 MMm3/d of natural gas. There was a 1% reduction in oil production compared to the previous month and 3.6% compared to June 2020. In natural gas there was an increase of 0.9% compared to the previous month and 5.7 % compared to June 2020.

Pre-salt

Pre-salt production was 2,142 MMbbl/d of oil and 90.9 MMm³/d of natural gas, totaling 2,714 MMboe/d. There was an increase of 0.9% compared to the previous month and 1.6% compared to the same month in 2020. Pre-salt production originated from 129 wells and corresponded to 72.2% of the total produced in Brazil.

Use of natural gas

In June, the use of natural gas was 97.7%. 58.9 MMm³/day were made available to the market. Gas flaring in the month was 3.1 MMm³/d, an increase of 6.1% compared to the previous month and a reduction of 0.1% compared to the same month in 2020.

Origin of production

In this month of June, the offshore fields produced 97% of the oil and 82.5% of the natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras were responsible for 92.5% of the oil and natural gas produced in Brazil.

Highlights

In June, the Tupi field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas, recording 914 Mbbl/d of oil and 42.6 MMm3/d of natural gas.

The Petrobras 75 platform, producing in the Búzios field through four wells connected to it, was the installation with the highest oil production, with 156,416 bbl/d.

The Polo Arara facility, producing in the Arara Azul, Carapaúna, Cupiúba, Rio Urucu and Sudoeste Urucu fields, through 29 wells connected to it, was the facility with the highest production of natural gas, producing 6.863 MMm³/d.

Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the highest number of onshore producing wells: 1,005.

Tupi, in the Santos Basin, was the offshore field with the highest number of producing wells: 61.

Marginal accumulations fields

These fields produced 365.4 boe/d, 75.1 bbl/d of oil and 46.2 Mm³/d of natural gas. The Iraí field, operated by Petroborn, was the largest producer, with 284 boe/d.

Other information

In June 2021, 263 concession areas, three transfer of rights areas and five sharing areas, operated by 37 companies, were responsible for national production. Of these, 58 are offshore and 213 on land, with 11 relating to contracts for areas containing marginal accumulations. Production took place in 6,437 wells, 495 offshore and 5,942 onshore.

The average API degree of oil extracted in Brazil was 28.1, with 2.4% of the production considered as light oil (>=31°API), 90.8% medium oil (>=22 API and <31 API) and 6.8% heavy oil (<22 API).

The mature onshore basins (fields/long-term tests in the Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe and Alagoas basins) produced 92.9 Mboe/d, with 73.2 thousand bbl/d of oil and 3.1 MMm³/d of natural gas. Of this total, 69,500 boe/d were produced by Petrobras and 23,400 boe/d were produced by concessions not operated by Petrobras, of which: 15,666 boe/d in Rio Grande do Norte, 6,911 boe/d in Bahia , 481 boe/d in Espírito Santo, 218 boe/d in Alagoas and 190 boe/d in Sergipe.
